Biography

Susan Stroman is the recipient of 5 Tony Awards, 2 Laurence Olivier Awards, 5 Drama Desk Awards, 8 Outer Critics Circle Awards, 2 Lucille Lortel Awards, a record 5 Fred Astaire Awards, and the George Abbott Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Theater. She directed and choreographed "The Producers", winner of a record-making 12 Tony Awards including Best Direction and Best Choreography. She co-created, directed and choreographed the Tony-Award winning musical "Contact" for Lincoln Center Theater. "Contact" also won a 2003 Emmy Award for its PBS 'Live from Lincoln Center' broadcast. Other Broadway credits include "The Scottsboro Boys", "Young Frankenstein", "The Frogs", "Oklahoma!", "Thou Shalt Not", "The Music Man", "Steel Pier", "Big", "Showboat", "Picnic" and "Crazy for You". Off-Broadway productions include "And The World Goes 'Round", "Flora the Red Menace", and "Happiness". For 10 years, she choreographed Madison Square Garden's annual spectacular "A Christmas Carol", directed
