Biography

Kent Weed, President of A. Smith & Co., was born into a well-established entertainment family. His father, Gene, was a famous disc jockey and successful producer and director for Dick Clark Productions. Kent obtained his early entertainment experience working on music song films now known as music videos. In his early twenties, Weed turned his career interests towards television and headed a cable production company where he produced over 300 hours of programming a year. By his mid-twenties, Weed established himself as a premiere variety-format television director. His directing accomplishments included the high rated The Smothers Brothers Thanksgiving Special, The World Music Awards, Farm Aid for ABC; All That Jazz, Lance Burton, Houdini's Secrets and The World's Greatest Magic for NBC. In the 1990s, Weed took on the producing responsibilities for many of the television shows he directed.
