Father was iconic percussionist and author, Sam Ulano. Studied percussion with father 4years Sight reading percussionist As teenager, winner of Kodak Young Filmmakers Award, NJ Public Television Filmmakers Award BFA school of Visual Arts NYC Director/Producer 14 documentaries. Author of over 50 articles, interviews and reviews related to Production Sound Mixing. International speaker and panelist for the art of storytelling through motion picture sound for DGA, AES, MIX/CAS, Netherlands Film Academy, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Beijing Film Academy, AMPAS, UCSB, School of Visual Arts, Norwegian Bksjoe Sound Symposium, British Rycote Sound Symposium, and others. President of IATSE Local 695 5 terms (The Sound & Video Engineering Guild), . President of Cinema Audio Society 2 terms, serving as Board member 10 terms. Member 5 terms AMPAS Executive Sound Branch Committee and Museum Subcommittee, BAFTA online Guru teaching project. Annapurna online teaching project. Member of EUC California Incentive committee. 25 year collaboration with Quentin Tarantino. Faculty Maine Media Workshops for 20 years, teaching film sound through intensive, week-long workshops.
