Fernanda Torres is a Brazilian writer and actress known for her work in film, theater, and television. The daughter of renowned actress Fernanda Montenegro and actor Fernando Torres, she was immersed in the world of art and acting from an early age. At thirteen, she joined the O Tablado Theater School in Rio de Janeiro, making her stage debut in 1978 with the play Um Tango Argentino. She made her film debut with Innocence (1983) and went on to build her career with films such as The Weak Flesh (1985), I Know I Will Love You (1986) —for which she won the Best Actress award at the Cannes Film Festival— and A Man’s War (1991), among others. In 1998, she starred in Twins and in 2005 co-starred alongside her mother in House of Sand, both directed by Andrucha Waddington, her husband.
