Biography

A native of Oberlin, Ohio, Laurine Towler is the oldest of six children born to Percy Towler and Carmen Buford, a classical piano prodigy who had moved to Oberlin to study at the Oberlin College Conservatory of Music. A love for the arts was passed down from her mother and Laurine found her creative expression in theatre. Her first role was the Wicked Witch in a third grade production of "Sleeping Beauty" performed in French. Laurine later graduated from Stanford University with a BA in History and went on to earn her MFA in Theatre from The University of California, San Diego. A passion for theatre, Shakespeare, and the classics in general brought her to New York City in 1978 where she has had the honor of working on Broadway, National Tours, Off-Broadway, regional theatre, and in film and television with several of the greatest luminaries of her profession: Dame Maggie Smith, Al Pacino, Julie Harris, Woody Allen, Mary Tyler Moore and Louis C.K.
