Pablo Trapero was born in San justo, Argentina in 1971. In 1999 he directed his first feature, Mundo Grua, which won the Critics Prize at Venice. In 2002, he opened his production company, Matanza Cine, that produces films for fellow filmmakers, asPablo Trapero emerged in Argentine cinema with Mundo Grúa and consolidated his standing with El Bonaerense, works that contributed to the international visibility of the New Argentine Cinema. He later directed Leonera, Carancho and Elefante Blanco, films that entered major festivals such as Cannes and Venice and strengthened his focus on social, institutional and urban tensions. Trapero has also developed a solid production career through Matanza Cine, supporting new filmmakers and expanding the reach of Argentine audiovisual projects abroad. His film El Clan became one of Argentina’s most successful releases, reaffirming his position as a central figure in contemporary Latin American cinema.
