Biography

Jack Robbins was born Irving Kay Wheeler in Connecticut in 1913. He grew up in Banning, California, where he worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps. In August of 1934 Irving married fifteen-year-old Frances Ridste from San Bernardino. The marriage only lasted several weeks. Frances moved to Hollywood and became actress Carole Landis. In 1938 Irving moved to Hollywood and sued Carole's fiance, Busby Berkeley, for $250,000 for alienation of affection. He lost the suit and Carole divorced him in 1939. Irving changed his name to Jack Robbins and acted in several films. He also worked as a stand-in for Bob Hope and Chick Chandler. He was briefly engaged to singer Ella Mae Morse. In 1946 he inherited a million-dollar estate from his grandfather. In 1954 he was arrested for drug possession in Los Angeles. He was also known by the name Irving Decker.
