John Rice is a film and television animation director and story artist. He developed his practice in animation after studying at the Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles. Across more than three decades, he has directed episodes of major television series, including Rick and Morty, and contributed to long-running franchises such as The Simpsons. He also co-directed The Angry Birds Movie 2, building on earlier work as lead story artist on the first film. His process relies on close collaboration with writers, directors, and storyboard teams, allowing him to alternate between directing duties and story development.
