Biography

Jeff McCarthy, born and raised in California, and completed the MFA acting training with the American Conservatory Theater in San Fransisco. Moving to New York City in 1980, he originally became known for his leading roles in Broadway musicals. Over 40 guest-starring and many recurring roles on television as well as several film roles to his credit have established McCarthy as a versatile character actor in several disciplines in the entertainment industry, including the voice of Michigan J. Frog for the WB television network. McCarthy is probably best known for his creation of the role of Officer Lockstock in the Broadway hit, Urinetown.
