An Argentine director who moved from her native Salta and studied at ENERC, Buenos Aires. She directed short films, the last one, "Rey Muerto" (1995), made within the framework of the “Historias Breves” competition organized by the “INCAA”. In 2001 she released her first feature film "La Ciénaga", which marked a turning point in national cinema and established her as an international promise after being recognized in festivals and awards around the world. Her filmography is limited in quantity but abundant in value and concept, always dealing with regional, intimate and controversial topics with an aesthetic both beautiful and sinister without ever losing its sense of humor and social criticism. Lucrecia Martel's narrative style is characterized by her rejection of the traditional plot structure with a beginning, middle, and end, preferring instead to construct stories based on subtle associations, digressions, repetitions, and a deep attention to sound detail, atmospheres and the sonorities of speech.
