Biography

Barrett Martin is an award winning writer, drummer, and composer best known for his work with several rock bands from Seattle including, Mad Season, Screaming Trees, and Tuatara. He has played on albums for REM, the Stone Temple Pilots, Queens Of The Stone Age, as well as over 100 albums, films, and television soundtracks. He holds a masters degree in anthropology & linguistics and was recently awarded the 2014 ASCAP Deems Taylor award for excellence in writing. He has traveled the world extensively studying music in West Africa, Latin America, Cuba, Brazil, the Peruvian Amazon, Australia, New Zealand, the Mississippi Delta, Alaska, and New Mexico. As a professor of music, he has taught at Antioch University Seattle, and has lectured at New York University, Occidental College, Emory University, the University Of Georgia, the University Of New Mexico, and the University Of Alaska.
