Biography

“I like to create characters and worlds, and there's nothing like telling your own stories”. Director and screenwriter graduated from the Universidad del Cine, known particularly for his work in the field of horror. During his student years, he collaborated with several short films and worked as a storyboard artist and production assistant. In 1999, one of his first short films, Nostalgia at Table 8, was part of the third edition of the Historias Breves contest. In 2001, he moved with his sister Bárbara to Barcelona, where they started a career in advertising and founded their own production company. In 2008 they filmed Mamá, a three-minute short film, selected at the Sitges festival, where it caught the attention of Guillermo del Toro, who proposed them to produce the film based on the short. In 2013, they released the feature film Mamá, installing Muschietti in the center of the horror scene and starting a prosperous career in Hollywood, with titles such as the adaptation of It or The Flash.
