Born in Savannah, Georgia. Grew up in Western North Carolina. Cousin of sportscaster Jim Lampley. Started out in Radio during high school as part-time Teen Radio DJ for small top 40 radio station. Sold and produced radio commercials for local rock band concerts. Graduated NC Governor's School - Drama, Graduated NC School of the Arts * Acting, Attended Film classes LA Valley College, Attended Harvard University, Graduated UNC Chapel Hill - BA Int'l economics. Studied 6 1/2 years at Beverly Hills Playhouse with Jeffrey Tambor, Milton Katselas, and Gloria Gifford. First film work included wrangling horses, pigs, dogs, handling live venomous rattlesnakes, and swimming with wild alligators on location in Florida's Everglades. Replaced John Travolta as "Doody" in 1st National Touring Company of "Grease".
