Biography

“I think the bigger the film, the harder it is to maintain the auteur idea. You're in service of something beyond your own vision.” Jon Favreau is an American actor and director known for his ability to combine comedy, action and special effects. He studied at Queens College, but dropped out to pursue a career in acting. His career began in theater and he had some television appearances. In 1996, he wrote and starred in the dramatic comedy Swingers. Subsequently, he achieved more prominent roles on television, including a participation in Friends as Pete Becker, Monica Geller's millionaire boyfriend. His first big break as a director was with Made (2001), a crime comedy in which he also acted. His career took off significantly with Iron Man (2008), a film he co-wrote, directed, and kicked off the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He also directed Cowboys & Aliens (2011),the animated film The Jungle Book (2016) and the CGI film of The Lion King (2019), among others. Creator of The Mandalorian (2019) for Disney+, and having directed several episodes of the series, his work has been widely praised . Aside from his work behind the camera, Favreau has appeared in several films, including Elf (2003), The Wolf of Wall Street (2013), Chef (2014) and Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), among others. Through his versatility as a creator, director and actor, he established himself as an important figure in the entertainment industry.
