Sandy Fawkes

Sandy was a journalist, editor and author who worked for the Daily Sketch which became the Daily Mail for which she was the Fashion Editor. She also wrote for the Daily Express, authored books illustrated by comic luminaries such as Willy Rushton. Her journalistic attempts were not with out merit covering the Yom Kippur War in 1973 and being one of a very select few who had a serious interview with Muhammad Ali and came away with his respect. She wrote an autobiographical account of a troubling if briefly sexual frisson with a serial killer, while in America on a grand tour by Greyhound bus. That book is called Killing Time. And, she knew how to drink whiskey in all the wrong places when Soho was the right place to go.
