Biography

“I'm drawn to dramas that make people think. I want to make an impact.” Stephen Graham is a British film and television actor and producer. From a young age, he showed an interest in acting and actively participated in school plays, which led him, as a teenager, to enroll in the Rose Bruford College of Theatre and Performance, although he was expelled before completing his training. His first television role was in the iconic series Coronation Street, marking the beginning of his career in 1999. He gained international recognition playing Tommy in Snatch (2000) and appeared in Gangs of New York (2002). However, his breakout role came with This Is England (2006), in which he portrayed Andrew "Combo" Gascoigne—a performance that earned him a nomination for Best Actor at the British Independent Film Awards and which he reprised in the television sequels. He stood out as Al Capone in Boardwalk Empire and appeared in titles such as Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011), Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (2017), Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (2011), The Irishman (2019) by Martin Scorsese, and Boiling Point (2021), for which he was nominated for a BAFTA Award for Best Actor. His other notable work includes Peaky Blinders and the miniseries Time (2021), widely praised by critics. In 2025, he played a prominent role as the protagonist's father in the miniseries Adolescence, a project in which he also served as screenwriter and producer. Graham has spoken openly about his struggles with mental health and is known for the emotional depth and authenticity of his performances.

I Loved The Irishman

“When I was young, I thought house painters painted houses.” The Irishman is essential viewing for any gangster-movie buff. It is a very ambitious movie, despite the aging cast and director. Martin Scorsese takes risks at every turn – some pay off and some flop, but I respect the Scorsese team for continuing to push boundaries even in the sunset of his career. Scorsese tasked Robert De Niro with a nearly impossible task for the film. De Niro, 76, portrays Frank Sheeran for his entire life: from

Adolescence vs Black Mirror: Two extremes of the same debate

From time to time a Netflix series unexpectedly becomes a complete phenomenon, as happened with "Queen's Gambit," "Squid Game," "Baby Reindeer," and this year with "Adolescence." The series' popularity was such that some governments even included it as part of the material teachers could use in their classes, and others rekindled the debate about teenagers' access to social media. And it has also generated great debate among people. The two main themes addressed in the series are the "manosphere

‘Adolescence’: Everyone Remembers the Boy Who Did The Killing, but What About the Girl Who Died?

Thanks to an initiative by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, the hit Netflix series Adolescence is now available for free in British secondary schools. Influenced by the show’s popularity, schools across the UK will soon introduce anti-misogyny courses for male students, aiming to counteract the toxic, gender-discriminatory content proliferating online. Meanwhile, discussions around a second season of Adolescence are already underway. With both critical acclaim and measurable social influence

vanessaonfilms: my friend had the same critique of the show as well. it's incredible that a show like this is taking up space and exists now, but as you mention, it forgets the victim in a lot of ways. thanks for your insight :)

ADOLESCENCE 2025: #AdolescenceNeverExisted (3:47 AM)

Initial Brushstrokes THE SEQUENCE SHOT THAT MADE US ACCOMPLICES? At 3:17 AM, with the blue light of Netflix devouring my pupils, I understood something terrible: The sequence shot is not a cinematographic resource. It's the way of tying you to the chair and yelling at yourself, "Look at this carefully, you motherfucker! This is not a metaphor. This happens." And then, in the midst of that tracking shot that won't let you escape, you ask yourself: How many Jamies have I passed while their fathers

Ysaura M Perez: Your review is very well developed and reflects a deep analysis in every idea. I leave you my like as recognition and, in the spirit of mutual support, I invite you to stop by my profile and read my three articles this month: The Studio, Darth Vader and Jack Sparrow, and 6 Comedies That Deserved More. I'd love to hear your opinion, receive your support with a like and, if you have content, also stop by and check it out!

'Adolescence', the current audiovisual sensation.

Adolescence is undeniably the current audiovisual sensation. This four-episode Netflix drama begins with 13-year-old Jamie Miller being arrested and accused of murdering a girl of his class. The charges against the youngster compel his family to face the worst nightmare possible. The episodes have been divided into (1) the arrest of the youngster, (2) the police investigation to determine the cause for the murder, (3) the alleged murderer's fifth session with the psychologist, and (4) the family

GMD: Adolescence stabs the dagger: it shows what no one wants to see. Carlos CSC, we are facing the same question.

“Adolescence”: “Masculinity” and “Zombification”

A lot has already been written about this four-part Netflix series. But instead of ignoring it and moving on, we could try once more to shake the autumn tree and let one more leaf fall on top of what you have already accumulated. Perhaps by pointing to a different color. We'll focus on just a few details, as it's assumed that anyone reading this article has already seen it. Zombification When the thirteen-year-old boy is in the first police interrogation, accompanied by his father—whom he has ch

Adolescence and the Hereditary Curse of Toxic Masculinity

A Social Issues Drama Wrapped in Dazzling Form Netflix, a platform almost synonymous with mediocre content, has finally delivered a major hit. Adolescence is a four-episode limited series starring, co-written, and co-produced by the seasoned British actor Stephen Graham (The Irishman, Help, Swimming with Men). It’s also executive-produced by Brad Pitt—his former collaborator from Snatch—and tackles highly topical issues of youth crime and misogynistic culture. With such a powerful combination, t

2025's Most Thought-Provoking Show on Netflix and It's Only Four Episodes

Netflix has never been one to shy away from making shows that encourage conversations. Mindhunter taught us about the psychology of well-known serial killers, and Baby Reindeer broke the taboo of male sexual abuse and stalking. This year, a new Netflix miniseries, Adolescence, is only four episodes long and is the most thought-provoking series I've seen this year. A Gripping Tale of Crime and Consequence As soon as the show starts, Adolescence has the police break into a scared Jamie Miller's ho
