Biography

Born in sunny Southern California under the cozy spotlight of tinsel town to Armando Contreras (entertainment Grip) and Diana Contreras (professional singer) in Torrance California, Carla started her professional acting career at the ripe age of three selling Barbie Dolls and Tootsie Rolls; from eleven to sixteen she regularly worked on the TV series, 'The Waltons.' Leaving the business to finish her formal education and after receiving a degree in business, Carla ventured back to Hollywood to train at The Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute where she discovered her singing voice. She also studied acting intensively with Groundlings Founder Gary Austin, and further study with Kathrine Daley, Scott Arther Allen, Bob Corff and Seth Riggs. Upon an invitation to visit Nashville's Music Row, Carla fell in love with Tennessee and decided to stay in 1992 to pursue music and have a quality of life she couldn't find in Los Angeles.
