Biography

"I've been recording forever. I'm a watcher. I'm a stalker. I love everything about people. It's always been a passion for me to observe." Xavier Dolan is a Canadian filmmaker and actor from Quebec. At 4 years old, he was encouraged by an aunt who motivated him to act in commercials and television programs. After finishing high school, he decided to dedicate himself to cinema, working as a voice actor and acting in various projects. At 19 years old, he made his directorial debut with I Killed My Mother (2009), a semi-autobiographical film about the relationship between a mother and her son, which he wrote, directed, produced, and starred in. Premiering at the Cannes Film Festival, Dolan received immediate recognition and established himself as a promising figure in the film industry. Among his most notable works are Heartbeats (2010), Laurence Anyways (2012), Tom at the Farm (2013), and Mommy (2014). Xavier also acted in some of his own films and in other projects such as Elephant Song (2014), It Chapter Two (2019), and Lost Illusions (2021), as well as in the direction of several music videos. Throughout his career, he has received numerous awards at prestigious film festivals, solidifying his place as one of the most outstanding voices in contemporary auteur cinema.
