Dean DeBlois began his artistic formation through Sheridan College’s Classical Animation program while working as an assistant animator and layout artist for Hinton Animation Studios and Lacewood Productions. After graduation he joined Sullivan Bluth Studios in Ireland, where he worked in character design, layout, and storyboarding roles. He later moved to Los Angeles to join Walt Disney Feature Animation, collaborating with Chris Sanders and serving as Head of Story on Mulan, then co-creating Lilo & Stitch. DeBlois sold original live-action projects to write, direct, and produce, while also directing documentary music films. He returned to feature animation with DreamWorks, co-writing and directing multiple projects, including sequels, redefining story and production approach. He has evolved across animation, live-action, documentary, and producing roles.
