Biography

Janie Dee won the Olivier, Evening Standard and Critics' Circle Awards for Best Actress for Alan Ayckbourn's Comic Potential which she performed in London and New York, and the Olivier Award for Best Supporting Performance in a Musical for Carousel, directed by Nicholas Hytner at the National Theatre. She has worked extensively with both Sir Alan Ayckbourn and Harold Pinter, originating roles in Ayckbourn's Comic Potential, House and Garden, and Dreams from a Summerhouse and starred in Pinter's Old Times, Betrayal and the film of Celebration, opposite Colin Firth (Channel 4). She has worked extensively with Sir Peter Hall who directed Janie in Much Ado About Nothing, Betrayal and Design For Living. Recent dramatic roles include: Michael Frayn's Noises Off at the Old Vic and West End, Lucy Kirkwood's NSFW at the Royal Court, (earning a fourth Olivier Award nomination), Blithe Spirit at the Gielgud Theatre, with Dame Angela Lansbury and A Midsummer Night's Dream on tour in Asia and Russ
