Biography

Mark Deakins holds a BA in Comparative Literature from Brigham Young University. He received his classical acting training in the University of California, San Diego's MFA acting program. Mark began his professional acting career in Steppenwolf Theatre Company's Tony Award-winning Broadway play, The Grapes of Wrath in New York City and also appeared in the London production at the Royal National Theatre. He has acted in numerous productions at the New York Shakespeare Festival, the Public Theatre, McCarter Theatre, Hartford Stage and The Guthrie Theatre among others. He appeared with the San Francisco Symphony in noted conductor Michael Tilson Thomas's symphonic adaptation of Ibsen's Peer Gynt , staged by James Darrah. Notable Los Angeles productions include Peter Hall's Shakespeare trilogy of A Midsummer Night's Dream, Measure for Measure, and Romeo and Juliet at the Ahmanson Theatre, Stephen Wadsworth's production of Agamemnon at the Getty Villa Theatre and leading roles at The Geffe
