Rosario Dawson is an American actress and producer known for her outstanding work in film and television. Her career began in an unusual way when, as a young girl, she was discovered by director Larry Clark, who offered her a role in his film Kids (1995). After this first project, which marked her acting debut, Dawson decided to pursue formal training and enrolled at the Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute. She went on to star in numerous films, including He Got Game (1998), Men in Black II (2002), Rent (2005), Sin City (2005) Seven Pounds (2008), among others.
In the 2010s she gained recognition for her portrayal of Claire Temple, the night nurse, in the Netflix series Daredevil (2015-2016), Jessica Jones (2015), Luke Cage (2016), Iron Fist (2017) and The Defenders (2017). Dawson has also lent her voice to Wonder Woman in the DC Animated Universe and Batgirl in LEGO Batman: The Movie. She portrayed Ahsoka Tano in the second season of The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, which led to her starring in her own Disney+ original series Ahsoka (2023).
Over the years, Dawson has used her fame to support numerous social causes, including co-founding the non-profit organization Voto Latino, which empowers Latinos as agents of change. She has supported initiatives promoting sustainability and environmental awareness, participating in campaigns against climate change and she has also been a strong voice in promoting diversity in Hollywood, advocating for more inclusive representation.
