Biography

June Angela received Broadway's Tony Award and Drama Desk nominations as Best Leading Actress for "Shogun" and starred opposite Danny Glover in the 2 person play "Yohen." Part of TV history, she starred with Pat Morita on the first Asian American Primetime TV Comedy series "Mr T and Tina." An Emmy and Grammy for her work on TV's "The Electric Company" series, she was a regular working with Morgan Freeman and Rita Moreno from the pilot till the final show - episode seven hundred twenty. Performing since age 5, her extensive theater credits include Tuptim in the Broadway and London Palladium revival of Rodgers & Hammerstein's "The King and I" with Yul Brynner and starring in works at Lincoln Center, Kennedy Center and the NY Public Theater among others. A Theatre Guild Award winner as Best Lead Actress, she was also honored for her work by Off-Broadway's Pan-Asian Repertory Theater. She was a regular on three TV series and recurred as the family psychic Madame Xing on "Fresh Off the Boat
