Biography

Andrea Adler is an American writer, director, actor and producer known for her award-winning novel Pushing Upward. Andrea also wrote the screenplay with Gerald DiPego. As an actress, Andrea appeared in Neil Simon's Chapter Two on Broadway in the starring role of Jennie Malone, directed by Herbert Ross. She also starred in Uncle Vania, The Good Doctor, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof at UCLA and in Lovers and Other Strangers at the Pasadena Playhouse. Andrea was a member of Café La Mama and the improvisational theater company, The Groundlings and co-starred in the TV shows: Police Woman, The Bob Newhart Show, Executive Suite, Steubenville, and Bronx. Andrea founded and directed The Off Off Main Street Children's Theater Company, dedicated to works by, for, and about teenagers and the challenges they face, which ran successfully for eight years.
