Biography

Elisabeth Moss is an American actor and director whose career spans television, film, and stage. Originally aspiring to be a dancer, she studied ballet at the School of American Ballet in New York and later with Suzanne Farrell at the Kennedy Center before turning to acting in the early 1990s. She gained recognition in The West Wing and achieved a breakthrough with Mad Men. Her performance in Top of the Lake earned her a Golden Globe Award, and as producer and star of The Handmaid’s Tale she won two Primetime Emmy Awards. Moss has also maintained a presence on Broadway and in London’s West End, receiving a Tony Award nomination. Beyond her screen and stage work, she practices Scientology and identifies as a feminist.
