Lorraine Bracco is an American actress whose career spans film and television. After moving to France in 1974, she began as a fashion model before transitioning into European cinema, appearing in Italian- and French-language productions. Encouraged by peers, she studied acting with John Strasberg, which shaped her approach to performance. She later collaborated with director Lina Wertmüller before securing her breakthrough as Karen Hill in Goodfellas (1990), earning Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations. On television, Bracco chose the role of psychiatrist Jennifer Melfi in The Sopranos (1999–2007), a decision that highlighted her interest in complex, intellectually driven characters and brought multiple Emmy nominations. She is also the owner of Bracco Wines.
