Biography

"I don’t know how an actress is supposed to observe and create new things if she hasn’t been out on the street, rubbing shoulders with humanity. You have to have a life." Sarah Jessica Parker is an American film, theater, and television actress and producer. She grew up in a large family with modest means, which didn’t stop her from developing her artistic talent from an early age. She studied singing, ballet, and acting at prestigious institutions such as the School of American Ballet, the Professional Children’s School, and the School for Creative and Performing Arts in Cincinnati, receiving a well-rounded education as a performer. She began her acting career as a child, making her Broadway debut at age eleven in the play The Innocents. Shortly afterward, she played the lead role in Annie, one of the most iconic musicals of the time, marking her formal entry into show business. In the 1980s, she appeared in several teen films, including Footloose (1984) and Girls Just Want to Have Fun (1985). However, her greatest international recognition came in the late 1990s when she starred in the HBO series Sex and the City (1998–2004), portraying Carrie Bradshaw, a fashion columnist in New York City. The character became a cultural icon, especially for her style, independence, and reflections on modern love. The series earned Parker four Golden Globe Awards for Best Actress in a Comedy Series, two SAG Awards, and an Emmy, among other honors. She also starred in the two feature films based on the show—Sex and the City (2008) and Sex and the City 2 (2010)—as well as the reboot And Just Like That... (2021). Parker has also worked in film and theater, in movies such as Mars Attacks! (1996), The Family Stone (2005), Failure to Launch (2006), and Hocus Pocus (1993). She has also stood out as a producer, founding her own company, Pretty Matches, which produces content for film and television. In the business world, she launched her own line of shoes and perfumes. Carrie Bradshaw became a symbol of female empowerment and contemporary urban life, setting fashion trends and redefining the role of women on television. Parker is regarded as an influential figure in both pop culture and the fashion world.
