Matthew Modine

Matthew Modine is an American actor and filmmaker whose artistic formation included study with Stella Adler in New York. He began his career in the early 1980s and has since worked across film, television, theater, and short-form projects, also directing and writing several of his own films. Key collaborations with major directors shaped notable performances in works such as Full Metal Jacket and the HBO film And the Band Played On, earning him Golden Globe and Primetime Emmy nominations. He later expanded his television presence with the role of Dr. Martin Brenner in Netflix’s Stranger Things. Beyond his screen work, Modine advocates for urban cycling and founded the initiative “Bicycle for a Day,” for which he has received public recognition.
