Anthony Hopkins

“I am able to play monsters well. I understand monsters. I understand madmen.” Anthony Hopkins is a Welsh actor with many years of experience, very recognized both on the screen and on the stage. He was trained at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, and, soon after, he moved to London to join the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, invited by Laurence Olivier. His early film appearances included The Lion in Winter (1968), A Bridge Too Far (1977) and David Lynch’s The Elephant Man (1980). During the 1980s, he maintained a balance between theater and film, developing in both fields. In the following decade, he participated in outstanding works such as The Silence of the Lambs (1991), playing the serial killer Hannibal Lecter, Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992), The Remains of the Day (1993) and Nixon (1995). In 2019, he starred in The Two Popes, playing Benedict XVI. Acclaimed by critics and audiences alike, he has won numerous awards throughout his career, including several Golden Globes, BAFTA Awards and two Academy Awards, one of them for The Father (2020), making him the oldest winner of the statuette. His ability to transform himself into a variety of characters made him one of the most respected actors of all time.
