Christopher Reeve

Biography

Christopher D'Olier Reeve was born September 25, 1952, in New York City, to journalist Barbara Johnson (née Barbara Pitney Lamb) and writer/professor F.D. Reeve (Franklin D'Olier Reeve). He came from an upper-class family; his paternal grandfather was CEO of Prudential Financial, and one of his maternal great-grandfathers was Supreme Court Associate Justice Mahlon Pitney. When Reeve was four, his parents divorced. His mother moved him and his brother Benjamin to Princeton, New Jersey, and married an investment banker a few years later. After graduating from high school, Reeve studied at Cornell University while at the same time working as a professional actor. In his final year at Cornell, he was one of two students selected (Robin Williams was the other) to study at New York's famous Juilliard School, under the renowned John Houseman. Although Christopher is best known for his role as Superman (1978), a role which he played with both charisma and grace, his acting career spans a much larger ground. Paralyzed after a horse riding accident, he died suddenly at age 52 after several years of living and working with his severe disability.

Clark Kent: The Last Sound I Wanted to Hear

Even Superman has a limit—and sometimes, it's not his strength, but his heart. Clark Kent doesn’t get up when he hears people scream anymore. Not because he can’t. Because he doesn’t want to. After eighty-three years of saving the world, after witnessing evil reincarnate in new faces, new slogans, and new excuses, Clark realized something: evil doesn’t die. It evolves. And worse, good isn’t reward

‘The Flash’: 50 years of love for DC

When watching The Flash, I couldn't help but feel a little tranced. There's no denying that this marks a significant ‘turning point’ for DC. Online users have been using one phrase consistently: ‘exceeded expectations.’ I can still vividly recall watching Jay Oliva's animated rendition of Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox back in 2013, nearly a decade ago. At that time, I remember commenting,

"The Flash" as the Swansong of the "Old Era" DC Cinematic Universe

DCEU's latest masterpiece, "The Flash," has finally met with the audience on the big screen. It's hard to believe that this superhero film, released in 2023, actually had its initial release date announced in March 2018, which was just the second year after the release of "Justice League." What surprised many in the industry was that, despite the strong scent of failure surrounding the entire deve
