Amy Madigan is an American actress who works in film, television, and theater. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy from Marquette University in 1972 and transitioned from a singing career in the 1970s to pursue acting, studying at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute. Gained recognition with her film debut in Love Child and a few years later received Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations for her performance in Twice in a Lifetime. Her television work includes a Golden Globe-winning performance as Sarah Weddington in Roe vs. Wade. She made her Broadway debut as Stella Kowalski in A Streetcar Named Desire. She has been married to actor Ed Harris since 1983, with whom she has frequently collaborated throughout her career.
