Giancarlo Esposito pursued artistic formation beginning in childhood: he lived in Europe early, then his family settled in Manhattan where he began recording radio commercials, and later attended Elizabeth Seton College, earning a two-year degree in radio and television communications. He made his Broadway debut as a child, and continued working in stage before extending into television, film, and voice work. His collaborations include long-term work with directors such as Spike Lee, and partnerships in both independent and large scale productions. Working methods include adopting cultural and ethnic traits to shape characters, balancing guest roles and recurring/main roles in television, and performing voice work for animation and video games.
