Biography

“Actors have become very spoiled in the roles they choose today. When I started in this profession - about a hundred years ago, in the last century - it was about taking risks, doing the work and honing the craft.” Brian Cox is a renowned Scottish actor widely recognized for his versatility in theater, film and television. He gained particular acclaim for his portrayal of media mogul Logan Roy in the HBO series Succession (2018-2023) for which he won a Golden Globe Award. His beginnings were in the theater, he worked at the Dundee Repertory Theatre for a few years and at the age of 17 he began his training at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. He starred in numerous productions with the Royal National Theatre and the Royal Shakespeare Company, earning significant recognition. In 1971 he made his film debut with Nicholas and Alexandra. Years later he played the first version of the character of Hannibal Lecter in the film thriller Manhunter (1986). In 2000 he gave a remarkable and faithful portrayal of Hermann Göring in Nuremberg and has worked in films such as Troy (2004), The Bourne Identity (2002), Rob Roy (1995), Braveheart (1995), Match Point (2005) and X-Men 2 (2003), in the role of William Stryker, Zodiac (2007), among others. He has been acclaimed by critics and audiences alike for his commanding presence, dedication and authenticity.

From Daniel Day Lewis to Dead Rats: The Problem with Jared Leto‘s Method Acting

Method acting used to be a respected technique between the actors. Some actors treat method acting differently, some dissapear completely into their roles, others just stay with some things and still when they call cut, they return to their normal selfs. But…. what is Method acting? Method acting was invented by Stroverski and he described this process is how an actor fully delivers his own soul a

The Chilling Realism of Brian Cox's Hannibal Lecktor (Manhunter)

As a horror film lover, I've always been fascinated by the two most iconic renditions of Dr. Hannibal Lecter: Brian Cox in “Manhunter” and Anthony Hopkins in “The Silence of the Lambs” and “Red Dragon.” While Hopkins' performance is often hailed as the definitive version, I would argue that Cox's interpretation in the oft-overlooked “Manhunter” is actually the more compelling and psychologically a

The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim -- You Wanna Know How I Got These Scars?

Some weeks, you finally get to watch the movie you actually want to watch. It was a privilege to watch the French-Canadian indie Phoenixes. Gladiator II was the movie of the moment and I felt a sense of duty to go see it. And it was a fun, nostalgic trip to sit through Y2K. But what I've really wanted, what I've yearned for, is this:The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim. From the moment I

A SUPER EDITOR’S CHOICE ♥️♠️♦️♣️ The creative process and background of Succession (2018-2023) have been quite tumultuous.
