Biography

Sally Cairns was born in Roscoe, PA. A 1937 graduate of California (PA) High School, she attended Duquesne University in Pittsburgh on a drama scholarship. During her freshman year at Duquesne, she won the local "Gateway to Hollywood" acting competition over 500 applicants and was soon on her way to Hollywood. She finished second in the national competition, losing to Gale Storm. Remaining in Hollywood, she made her film debut in her first feature role when she shared top billing with cowboy star Addison "Jack" Randall in "Covered Wagon Trails," a Monogram Studios film in 1940. Cairns retired from acting in 1950 to be a housewife and mother, and passed away at the age of 45 in 1965.
