Biography

Best-known for her costume design work on HBO's hit series, Deadwood (2004), award-winning costume designer Janie Bryant has been obsessed with fashion and design since her childhood spent in Cleveland, Tennessee. By age six, she was creating breathtaking outfits for her dolls out of her mother's old aprons and scavenged socks from the family's laundry basket. She merged her love of fashion and design with a natural talent for drawing and painting, which she nurtured while attending Georgia State University, where she studied art and then moved on to the American College of the Applied Arts, where she continued to pursue her love of fashion design. Upon graduating Cum Laude, she moved to Paris and then to New York, where she worked closely with fashion designer John Scher. With a few commercials and films under her belt, she headed west to Los Angeles.
