Biography

Attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. She was nominated for the 2008 Tony Award (New York City) for Best Actress in a Drama for "The Homecoming". She was nominated for the 2007 Tony Award (New York City) for Best Actress in a Drama for "A Moon for the Misbegotten". She won the 2005 Olivier Award for Best Actress & London Critics Circle Theatre Award for Best Actress for her performance as the title role in Hedda Gabler. She was awarded the 2003 London Critics Circle Theatre Award for Best Actress for her performance in Mourning Becomes Electra performed at the Royal National Theatre. She was awarded the 1999 London Critics Circle Theatre Award for Most Promising Newcomer and the London Evening Standard Theatre Award for Best Newcomer for her performance in 'Tis Pity She's a Whore performed at the Young Vic Theatre.
