Chase Lawless

Chase Alexander Lawless was born in Calgary, Alberta, CA on February 19th 1994, to parents Shelley Swirski and Vince Cownden. His mother worked in TV Journalism for more than 20 years, and then went into not-for-profit management with JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation), after her daughter (Ciara Cownden) was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. Chase's father, Vince, followed in his own father's footsteps, and went on to work successfully in radio for his entire career. After performing in a high school adaptation of Treasure Island at the age of 13 , Lawless's mother and aunt, both whom had a talent for music, encouraged and inspired him to pursue a career in the arts. And so, after graduating from Red Deer College's Motion Picture Arts Degree program in 2016, Chase signed with agent Darren Boidman at Carrier Talent, before moving to Toronto, Ontario, to undertake a career in Film and Television. He is best known for his work on Canadian hit comedy, Letterkenny, his leading role of Daniel in The Apprentice, the creators of which also offered Lawless a role in Bordello. Lawless can also be seen featured on Paramount Plus' ambitious new series Mayor of Kingstown. Chase changed his last name for stage from Cownden to Lawless to honor his late Grandmother, Mavis Cownden (Lawless).
