Biography

“If you look at it, the corset is a very beautiful item, but when I put one on, I realized how little you could actually move. And I'm a very physical person: I talk with my hands. And I felt how the clothes took that away from me. And that was the idea, I think. It was a way of limiting women.” Florence Pugh burst onto the scene with her remarkable performance in the 2014 drama "The Falling," where she portrayed a precocious teenager opposite Maisie Williams. She showcased her versatility by playing on a wide variety of genres, from the uncomfortable Ari Aster’s “Midsommar” to the heart-warming Greta Gerwig's adaptation of "Little Women”; the latter earning her nominations for BAFTA and Academy Awards. In 2021, Pugh joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe, portraying Yelena Belova in "Black Widow” and the Disney+ series “Hawkeye”. She is set to return to the role for the next big superhero crossover called “Thunderbolts”. And her roles in box office juggernauts didn't end there, as she debuted in the Dune series, the biggest sci-fi saga of the decade. Off-screen, Pugh has made headlines for her fashion sense and outspokenness. She has been recognized by Forbes and Time magazine for her influence and talent, cementing her place as one of the most promising actors of her generation.
