Biography

Abdullah Alassil is a Syrian filmmaker living in Los Angeles since 2014. He was born and raised in Damascus, Syria. Alassil wrote, produced, and directed prominent actors in Syria while working on his first short, "The Confession," during his sophomore year after he co-established the Cinema Club at his Syrian university. "The Confession" was later screened during Damascus International Film Festival and nominated for the Best Short award. Alassil's stop-motion thesis short film, "#The_Suit," was shown in the Malaysia "Mystique Exhibition" for best graduation projects and later televised. Alassil is one of the members of Amarji, an organization for free Syrian artists, and is also one of the founders of AFMI (Arab Film and Media Institute in California). He is also a member of the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures and Film Independent Organization. Alassil is also a multi-instrumental musician.
