Biography

“I need time to do whatever I want to do. What happens to an actor that has no life experience? They don't know how to act as a different role. So, that's really important to do.” Finn Wolfhard is a Canadian actor, musician, model, and director, best known for playing Mike Wheeler in the series Stranger Things (2016–present). Showing an early interest in acting, he landed his first role at age nine after responding to online ads for indie productions. From the start, he has been connected to science fiction and horror genres, with appearances in The 100 (2014) and Supernatural (2015). Following his breakout in Stranger Things, he gained further recognition as Richie Tozier in It (2017) and It Chapter Two (2019), both based on the novel by Stephen King. In 2021, he appeared in Ghostbusters: Afterlife, directed by Jason Reitman. Wolfhard has also worked as a voice actor in the animated series Carmen Sandiego (2019–2021), The Addams Family (2019), and Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio (2022). He made his directorial debut with the short film Night Shifts (2020), which he also wrote and for which he won Best Director at the Atlanta ShortsFest. In 2023, he premiered his first feature film, Hell of a Summer, a horror comedy he co-directed and starred in alongside Billy Bryk. Finn Wolfhard has established himself as a key figure in the renewed Gen X and Millennial interest in 1980s pop culture and is considered one of the most promising talents of his generation.
