Biography

Deborah Kay Hooker was born and raised in San Antonio Texas and her creative talents run deep. Surrounded by a successful artist family, her baton twirling/choreographer grandmother, Pat Hooker, invented the thin shafted baton, now the standard for majorettes, as well as creating the pre-Rockettes, famous "Dixie Darlings," debuting on the Ed Sullivan Show. Her grandfather, Vernon Hooker, was an accomplished band master performing with such greats as Harry James and John Phillip Sousa. Her father was a musician and her actress mother was Miss Teen America, the late Sharon Kay Hinshaw Hooker. Her aunt is Beth Hooker, a professional singer/songwriter, actress, having recorded/toured singing with Don Henley, Billy Joel, Elton John, and Sting, to name a few. Her brother, Robert Hooker, is an actor who has worked with such greats as Robert Downy Jr., Michael A. Hall, Sissy Spacek, and Randy Travis.
