Biography

Jess Brown is a Canadian actress of French, British and Jamaican descent. Born in Ottawa, Ontario, a long standing passion for theatre and film brought her to New York where she pursued her studies at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. After graduating from the two year conservatory, Jess became an invited member of the Academy Company where she spent a year honing her skills in the world of classical repertory theatre, tackling leading roles such as Madame de Tourvel in Dangerous Liaisons, Lucy in Dracula, as well as the title role in Jane Austen's Emma. Her career continued on the New York stage, performing under the direction of Rufus Wainwright at BAM (Brooklyn Academy of Music) in his show Prima Donna, followed by a remount of The Graduate (Ivoryton Playhouse) where her portrayal of Elaine Robinson gained exceptional praise.
