Derek Larthey

Derek was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He is the second son of two public school teachers. He was raised to have a love for reading, writing and storytelling. To this day he remains inspired by his parents' ability to capture and keep the attention of everyone in the room. Whether it was his Mother's uncanny ability to voice multiple characters so very uniquely and genuinely while reading to him and his brother or her third grade class, his Father's skillful command of class during a math or history lesson while impersonating George C Scott as Patton, his Grandpa Larthey's wild tales of war in Europe and the South Pacific or his Grandpa Shearer's Sunday sermons Derek grew up knowing the value of a good story and the importance of how it is told. His family's favorite stories range from classic literature to science fiction, from the historic to the Biblical. By the third grade he had completed reading the works of Jack London and had moved on, turning in book reports on king Lear
