Biography

Derrick Todd Lewis is an actor, recording artist and songwriter. Both of his parents were in the entertainment industry. His mother Valerie (Scott) Lewis was the lead singer for Rhythm and Blues group "The Pretenders" in the late 1960s and his father, the late Billy Lewis was a member of "The Drifters" from 1975 until the late 1980s. Derrick grew up in Newark, New Jersey and has 6 siblings. Derrick's interest in acting began at the age of 4 when he saw the film "Mommie Dearest" starring Faye Dunaway. He performed in his first school play at 6 years old in "Snow White" as one of the seven dwarfs "Bashful". From there Derrick would always be a part of school plays during his elementary school years. In 1991, Derrick joined the Spirit of Newark Drum and Bugle Corps as a charter member until 1997 and returned as a conductor in 2000. He then joined The Bushwackers Drum and Bugle Corps in 1998 as a snare drummer and was there until 2006. He performed for the New Jersey Nets Drumline in 200
