Biography

Brooklyn, New York native D-Stroy (born David Melendez) started his career on DJ Tony Touch's mix tapes. Soon he recorded the title track for a documentary based on the Young Lords, which Tito Puente called "very creative" in Vibe magazine. As he toured during high school, with Run-DMC and Naughty by Nature, he formed a group called The Arsonists. They went on to release their debut album which was a New York Times "Album of the Week" on Capital/Matador Records. D-Stroy expanded his exposure from local hero to rocking with royalty. Hosting events for American Idol, Mark Ecko, Nike, Jose Cuervo and others. He's M.C.'d several tours with Kelly Clarkson, Kanye West, Eminem and more. MTV's Icon and ESPN's X-games award show hired D-Stroy as a performance coach working with Aerosmith, Shakira, Pink, Jay-Z and Red Hot Chili Peppers.
