Biography

Following his move from London to New York in 2001, Marcus Wainwright embarked on a journey to create the perfect pair of rigid jeans. Mr. Wainwright's design ethos of form and function was refined during time spent alongside skilled artisans at one of America's oldest apparel factories. This experience informed rag & bone's philosophy of the importance of quality, expert craftsmanship and attention to detail. David Neville, a friend of Mr. Wainwright's from boarding school at Wellington College, subsequently left London to join rag & bone in New York. Today, the British born-duo are co-CEOs of the brand. In 2006, a major breakthrough for the brand occurred when both were selected as finalists in the CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America) Vogue Fashion Fund. The following year they won the CFDA Swarovski Award for Menswear. In 2010, they won the CFDA Menswear Designer of the Year Award.
