Biography

Scott Yates is the leader of the #LockTheClock movement to try to fix Daylight Saving Time. A journalist who worked at the old Spy Magazine in New York City and graduated from the Journalism School at NYU, Yates returned to Colorado where he had grown up. He worked in journalism for a decade before launching his first startup, MyTrafficNews, which he later sold to a company that eventually became part of Microsoft. He earned a patent: Distribution of Traffic and Transit Information. He then founded two other startups, both successful. In 2014 he began blogging about the negative aspects of changing the clocks twice per year for Daylight Saving Time. That blog later turned into the #LockTheClock movement. In addition to The Daily Show, Yates has been seen in The New Yorker, National Geographic, The New York Times and the LA Times and many more. He lives in Denver with his wife, son, mutt, and his dictionary collection.
