Biography

Michael Mau is an actor, writer, and visual artist. As a short fiction writer, his love for short-form storytelling led him to such films as A Man Departed, Lavender Boy, Fatherless, Housegirl, and Sleep Tight. He is also featured in several series, including Frame of Reference. Michael voices characters in five narrative podcasts: Big Sandy, the sci-fi thrillers Fathom and Derelict, and the supernatural historical dramas Haints and Between the Devil. Michael's short fiction has appeared in Black Warrior Review, Portland Review, Fifth Wednesday, Mount Hope, Firewords Quarterly, Punchnel's, Ferocious Quarterly, and other places. "An Open Letter to America From a Public School Teacher," originally published in McSweeney's, received national attention when it was picked up by several news outlets.
