Biography

Brian Cummings worked for 34 years for the Los Angeles Fire Department, Hired in 1980 as a Firefighter/EMT, he promoted through the ranks of Engineer, Captain, Battalion Chief and Division Chief and ultimately Fire Chief for the City. His work included leadership roles in Urban Search and Rescue, Hazardous Materials, the Recruit Training Academy and the Port of Los Angeles. AS a Division Chief he ran the Planning Section and worked as the LAFD's Chief of Staff. In 2011 he was selected as the 17th Fire Chief for the City of Los Angeles. Since retiring in early 2014, he has remained focused on Public Safety, Firefighter Safety and Service Delivery. As a consultant he has worked across North America, providing public safety consulting services, professional standards training to fire service agencies and public speaking at fire service conferences.
