Ramon Zürcher

Biography

Ramon Zürcher studied Art at the Bern University of the Arts (HKB), with a focus on video art, experimental film, painting and photography, then enrolled in film directing at the German Film and Television Academy Berlin (DFFB). During his studies he directed short films, worked on editing and screenplay, and showed work at festivals. His first feature film The Strange Little Cat premiered in the Forum section of the Berlinale, followed by screenings at international festivals. In 2017 he co-founded Zürcher Film with his twin brother Silvan Zürcher. Their film The Girl and the Spider premiered in the Encounters section of Berlinale, winning Best Director and the FIPRESCI Prize. His working methods include collaborating closely with his brother, writing and editing his own projects, integrating visual art training into cinematic design, and choosing festival-oriented premieres.
